KAOPASS Key & Entry/Exit
Background and Motivation for Implementation
TOKYO SYSTEM HOUSE Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as TSH) is a company that provides ICT solutions, placing strong emphasis on enhancing security and improving operational efficiency. Previously, TSH used a terminal-based face recognition unlocking system, but upon relocating to a new office building, they sought a more flexible and high-performance solution. TSH chose KAOPASS Key & Entry/Exit as it allowed them to effectively utilize their existing iPads, aligning with their goal of optimizing resources while enhancing security.
Implementation Process
-
1. Identifying Challenges and Defining Requirements
During the office relocation, TSH organized challenges related to entry/exit management and designed a system to meet the following requirements
- ・High-speed authentication
- ・Effective use of in-house iPads
- ・Seamless integration with electronic locks
- ・Flexible authentication range adjustment according to installation environment
-
2. System Design
iPads were installed at the entrance of staff rooms, conference rooms, and the CEO’s office, integrated with electronic locks. This enabled face recognition-based authentication and unlocking within one second.
-
3. Implementation and Operations Launch
A total of nine face recognition systems were installed in entrances and key office areas (six in constant use, three used as needed). Authentication parameters were adjusted at each installation point to prevent recognition interference while ensuring accurate authentication.
Results After Implementation
-
1. Improved Cost Efficiency by Utilizing Existing Equipment
By using the iPads already owned by TSH as authentication terminals, the company significantly reduced the cost of purchasing new hardware.
-
2. High-Speed Authentication and Unlocking
Integration between face recognition and electronic locks enabled authentication and unlocking to be completed within approximately one second, ensuring smooth entry and exit management.
-
3. Increase in Authentication Usage
After system deployment, over 12,000 face recognition-based unlocks were recorded per month, demonstrating stable and reliable operation.
-
4. Expansion of User Registration
Currently, approximately 200 employees are registered in TSH’s system, ensuring smooth daily entry and exit processes.
-
5. Flexible Installation Capability
The authentication range (face size detection) can be adjusted according to the installation location, effectively resolving issues related to recognition failures and background interference.
-
6. Achieving Functionality Equivalent to Competitor Systems
The system maintains the same level of functionality as previously used face recognition cameras from other providers, while also being optimized for new operational needs.
Customer Testimonial
"With the relocation of our headquarters, we adopted KAOPASS Key & Entry/Exit, which we had been recommending as a reseller, for our own use. The ability to leverage our existing iPads was particularly attractive, making the transition from our previous system seamless. The fast authentication—completing unlocking in about one second—and the ability to flexibly adjust settings based on installation location have been highly satisfactory. Additionally, with over 200 registered users and more than 10,000 authentications per month, we feel a strong sense of security and reliability in its operation."*
