Demonstration Project for the FY2024 Regional Digital Infrastructure Utilization Promotion Project Verification for the Realization of a "Smart Industrial Park" Utilizing Shared Local 5G in Gifu Prefecture
TIGEREYE Inc. (Headquarters: Tokyo, CEO: Gaku Kamimura, hereinafter referred to as "TIGEREYE") is participating in the FY2024 Regional Digital Infrastructure Utilization Promotion Project (Demonstration Project) titled "Verification for the Realization of a 'Smart Industrial Park' Utilizing Shared Local 5G in Gifu Prefecture." This project is being carried out by a consortium consisting of 10 organizations and businesses, with KANI INDUSTRIAL PARK (Chairman: Masahiro Yamaguchi, Address: 8-2 Himegaoka, Kani City, Gifu Prefecture) serving as the representative organization.
About the Project
This project is an "industrial park shared utilization type" demonstration project that aims to address regional challenges by utilizing cutting-edge communication technology (Local 5G) and the robots (drones) operating under it.
Overall Overview
Japan's manufacturing industry, which has long supported economic growth, faces multiple challenges such as labor shortages,
BCP compliance, and DX promotion. However, many small and medium-sized manufacturing companies struggle to address these challenges individually.
KANI INDUSTRIAL PARK has made significant infrastructure investments in areas such as shared power reception, industrial wastewater management,
and sewage treatment. However, by constructing an advanced information infrastructure that links "data" and "objects,"
this project aims to resolve the challenges faced by the manufacturing sector.
The ultimate goal is to develop a "Smart Industrial Park" that enables sustainable growth for the future, expands nationwide, and contributes to regional revitalization.
Local 5G Implementation
This demonstration project will install a Local 5G base station at KANI INDUSTRIAL PARK and a Local 5G core at the VR Tech Center, connecting them via the Gifu Information Super Highway. The project will verify the feasibility of shared utilization of the Local 5G core. Within KANI INDUSTRIAL PARK, the project aims to establish a "data" linkage system using Local 5G and a logistics system linking "objects" using BCP-compliant transportation robots for both normal operations and disaster situations.
TIGEREYE's Role in the Demonstration
TIGEREYE will conduct a demonstration experiment involving drone-based parcel transportation among member companies within KANI INDUSTRIAL PARK. During the pickup process, employees of these companies will undergo face recognition authentication using Local 5G-enabled drone-mounted cameras.
Future Prospects
Based on the technologies and knowledge acquired through this demonstration, TIGEREYE aims to achieve:
・Improved logistics efficiency during normal operations by integrating drones and face recognition authentication
・Effective emergency logistics and employee safety verification during disasters through drone-based face recognition authentication
Furthermore, TIGEREYE remains committed to contributing to sustainable regional revitalization through continued initiatives like this.
